News Release: ECBC Chairman Refuses to Facilitate Meeting with Community Representatives

Sydeny, Nova Scotia, December 22, 2011 – Mr. Paul LeBlanc, President of Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ECBC, has refused to facilitate a meeting between New Dawn and community representatives and ECBC leadership to discuss issues of port development and improved transparency and inclusion in decision making. In a December 21, 2011 reply to New Dawn’s request for a meeting (letter of December 5, 2011), Mr. LeBlanc advised that the ECBC Board of Directors does not support a meeting between community representatives and the Corporation’s leadership.

Acting on behalf of the community, New Dawn will take up ECBC’s isolationist and controlling behaviour with CBRM council in the New Year. Under consideration is a community review of the Corporation based in part on open and inclusive public forums held across the municipality.
