New Dawn Guest Home

A caring, welcoming environment is the hallmark of New Dawn Guest Home, a 30-bed residential care facility providing personalized and professional care in a bright, comfortable setting.

New Dawn Guest Home Limited was established in 1977 when a residential care home in Whitney Pier was facing closure. New Dawn Enterprises Limited purchased the facility to ensure that residential care would continue to be available to the community.

In 1993, residents of the Guest Home were moved to a newly constructed building in Pine Tree Park, a decommissioned military base on the outskirts of Sydney. Designed to meet Level 2 nursing-home specifications, New Dawn Guest Home allows its staff to provide optimum care to residents in a warm and attractive settings.

Some features of the New Dawn Guest Home include:

  • Wheelchair access throughout
  • Meets or exceeds institutional standards for fire safety
  • En suite bathrooms that are wheel chair accessible
  • Dedicated and compassionate staff

The quality of life for residents of New Dawn Guest Home is largely determined by the care and dedication of the staff. Every effort is made to attend to the physical, emotional and social needs of the residents and to create a positive family atmosphere. Since 1977, local response to the standard of care provided by New Dawn Guest Home has resulted in exceptionally high occupancy rates.

The services provided at New Dawn Guest Home include:

  • 24-hour care
  • Control and supervision of all medication
  • Maintenance of medical records
  • Meal preparation
  • Transportation to and from doctor appointments with an attendant, if required
  • Recreational and social programs

New Dawn Enterprises Limited, incorporated in 1976, is the oldest Community Development Corporation in Canada and is a Founding Member of the Canadian CED (Community Economic Development) Network. It is a private, volunteer directed, organization dedicated to community building. New Dawn seeks to identify community needs and to establish and operate ventures that speak to those needs.
