SYDNEY, N.S. – New Dawn officially launched its new Meals on 2 Wheels program Wednesday [May 15] with an all-ages bike parade and community picnic at the Eltuek Arts Centre in Sydney.
Meals on 2 Wheels allows volunteers who don’t have a car to deliver meals to clients by bicycle.
Each year, New Dawn Meals on Wheels provides 20,000 hot and nutritious meals to people who can’t prepare meals for themselves.
All meals are delivered to the doorstep by volunteers.
The Meals on 2 Wheels program currently has four e-bikes available for volunteers who want to help deliver meals. However, any cyclist who wants to use their own bicycle or e-bike is welcome to volunteer. Chris Connors/Cape Breton Post
