Community Economic Development Investment Fund

From 2004 to 2016, New Dawn administered a Community Economic Development Investment Fund, or CEDIF.

CEDIFs are provincially regulated investment instruments that businesses or communities can use to raise funds to advance their work.

Over the course of twelve years, New Dawn raised more than $13 million for investment in Cape Breton from more than 700 investors.

Collectively, these investors have earned $2.3 million in dividends and benefitted from the provincial tax credit offered to CEDIF investors in the first, fifth, and tenth year of their investment cycle.

To date, approximately $10 million of the $13 million raised has been redeemed to investors with the remaining $3 million to be redeemed in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

From 2004 to 2011, the funds New Dawn raised from local shareholders (investors) were invested in New Dawn-owned projects and companies.
