New Dawn: A Sustainability Success Story

VIDEO: Efficiency Nova Scotia highlights The Village at Pine Tree Park as part of Nova Scotia's first net-zero community

At New Dawn Enterprises, we are committed to creating a brighter, more sustainable future for our community. We recognize the intersections between energy, equity, and social justice, and our projects prioritize inclusivity, working closely with local partners and community members to ensure that the most vulnerable populations are supported.

We understand that energy efficiency is not just about saving money—it’s about creating a better quality of life. Our projects focus on helping those who need it most, ensuring that everyone, regardless of income, can access the benefits of clean, affordable energy.

Pine Tree Park is Nova Scotia’s first net-zero affordable housing community and, since October 2024, is home to The Village, an emergency temporary shelter village for 35 people experiencing homelessness. Through deep energy retrofits and the installation of a 700 kW solar array—comprising 1,800 solar panels—we’ve reduced the carbon footprint of this entire community while significantly improving energy efficiency.

We’re proud of the progress we’ve made and are committed to continuing our work to improve energy efficiency and support local communities through innovative energy solutions and partnerships with organizations like Efficiency Nova Scotia. Our goal is to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to live in a home that is not only comfortable but also energy-efficient and affordable.

Thank you to Efficiency Nova Scotia for featuring New Dawn, Pine Tree Park, and especially The Village at Pine Tree Park as part of its 2024 Annual Report with a beautiful video by the team at Clothesline Media.
