An act of beginning a voyage or of leaving a harbour.
Like all creatures, migrating from one country to another requires determination. Even small movements in a new place require care, patience, and courage.
Migration is something we hear about across news cycles, headlines, and in our communities. The language rarely captures the lived reality of migration as a complex, demanding process shared by people and animals alike, shaped by the need to adapt and survive, to feel a sense of belonging.
Smaller migrations within a city through daily routines carry their own quiet challenges. Learning new paths, waiting, showing up, beginning again. These are acts of movement too, each one a form of sailing.

Como todas las criaturas, migrar de un país a otro requiere determinación. Incluso los pequeños movimientos en un lugar nuevo requieren cuidado, paciencia y coraje.
La migración es algo de lo que escuchamos hablar a través de los medios, las noticias y en nuestras comunidades.
En su definición más común, se refiere a “moverse de una región a otra”, pero rara vez ese lenguaje logra reflejar la experiencia vivida de la migración como un proceso complejo y demandante, compartido por personas y animales que buscan adaptarse, sobrevivir y encontrar un sentido de pertenencia.
Migrar de un país a otro requiere determinación, coraje y perseverancia, pero realizar pequeñas migraciones dentro de una ciudad, a través de las rutinas diarias, también requiere fuerza de voluntad, paciencia y valentía. Aprender nuevos caminos, esperar, presentarse, comenzar de nuevo. Estos también son actos de movimiento, cada uno una forma de navegar.
Paulina Osorio Ambriz is a visual artist and newcomer from Mexico City, now living in Glace Bay. Her practice explores the emotional textures of place through colour and close observation. With sensitivity and insight, Paulina finds dignity and poetry in the everyday, reflecting on their surroundings not as static backdrops but as living spaces full of meaning.

The Corridor Gallery is located on the third floor of Eltuek. Open Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm and Saturdays from 9am-4pm.
