Volunteering is a family value for the MacRaes
Three generations of Meals on Wheels volunteers is “a rare and moving legacy” says New Dawn’s Manager of Community Meals.
A caring, welcoming environment is the hallmark of Pine Tree Park Care Home, a 29-bed (with one respite bed), Level One (Supportive Care), residential care facility providing personalized and professional care in a bright, comfortable setting for people with a variety of disabilities who are clients of the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services (DCS).
The quality of life of our residents is the driving factor of the dedication of Pine Tree Park Care Home staff
In partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services, the standard of care provided by Pine Tree Park Care Home has resulted in exceptionally high occupancy rates.
Every effort is made to plan for and attend to the physical, emotional, and social needs of the residents and to create a positive, family atmosphere
Our Family Council, made up of loved ones, friends, and administration, has recently been introduced through our Accreditation process. The Council meets three times a year to receive input, discuss past success and improvements, and to ensure that our clients receive the high-quality care they deserve.
Pine Tree Park Care Home was established in 1977 when a residential care home in Whitney Pier was facing closure. New Dawn Enterprises purchased the facility to ensure that residential care would continue to be available to the community.
In 1993, residents of the Guest Home were moved to a new building in Pine Tree Park, a decommissioned military base on the outskirts of Sydney. Originally designed to meet Level Two nursing-home specifications, Pine Tree Park Care Home enables its staff to provide optimum care to residents in a warm and attractive setting.
Pine Tree Park Care Home and New Dawn Homecare are proud to be accredited by Accreditation Canada, an independent, not-for-profit organization that sets national standards for safety and quality in healthcare and shares best practices worldwide.
During a three-day review of our services, policies, and procedures, Accreditation Canada found that:
New Dawn voluntarily undertakes the accreditation process every four years. This reflects our ongoing commitment to better care, safer clients, and stronger teamwork.
Our Safe Spaces policy ensures a respectful, supportive atmosphere for everyone. We pledge to listen, learn, and adapt to your needs, because your well-being is our priority. Together, we will create a safer, compassionate community for all.
