Opening: RITUALS of FLIGHT
September 11, 6-8 PM
Rituals of Flight, a group exhibition featuring artists Nelson MacDonald (Unama’ki, Cape Breton), Angie Arsenault (Odawa, Ottawa) and Robert Bean (Punamu’kwati’jk, Dartmouth), will open on Friday, September 11 at 6 pm.
The artists explore and document the presence and patterns of crows and other black birds in Sydney’s Historic North End and Ashby neighbourhoods, mainland Nova Scotia, and farther afield.
The works collectively highlight the enduring presence of rituals between human and avian species, as well as the role of birds as historical and cultural messengers.
