Eltuek Arts Centre announces fall season of art and events

We are excited to announce the first Fall Preview of exhibitions, programs, and events at Eltuek Arts Centre, one of Canada’s newest cultural hubs for creative work and the arts.

Sydney, Nova Scotia Thursday, September 1, 2022 – Following an exceptional response to the inaugural Call for Art in Winter of 2022, we are excited to announce the first Fall Preview of exhibitions, programs, and events at Eltuek Arts Centre, one of Canada’s newest cultural hubs for creative work and the arts. The Fall Preview is a much sought after, anticipated, dreamy look at the things ahead this upcoming season.

Opening this month, we have New Waterford artist, Andrew Gillis, and Wild Things, an exhibition of seven new paintings. Wild Things is on from September 9 – November 25, 2022, in Gallery 203 on the second floor of Eltuek Arts Centre.

Join us for Open Studio Day on Thursday, September 22, from 10am – 4pm. Eltuek studio artists will open their doors to the public and share their work with the community.

For the Lumiere Art-at-Night Festival, we are happy to be hosting two artists as special guests of Eltuek Arts Centre.

Travelling from Korea, Soeine Bac will be performing their project Songs of Absence in Gallery 211 and Eltuek Studio artist Sarah Boutilier will present The Anachronist Project in Gallery 209. Join us for Lumiere’s big night out on Saturday, September 24.

Solskin Brask (SKE) (Kjikank, Sydney) brings us the Transportable Collective Mural Project, every Sunday afternoon from October 2 – November 20. These are free, all-ages workshops meant to engage the community in all things print-making! Take a moment to reflect, learn, and collaborate with SKE.

In October, we are thrilled to bring artist Jude Griebel (New York City, Alberta) to Unama’ki with Broken Pattern. This exhibition presents contemporary sculpture and drawings that explore human impact on the world, by merging anatomies and landscapes into single sculptural forms. Griebel’s work provides new and fantastic understandings of eco-anxiety and speculate on possibilities beyond planetary collapse.

Broken Pattern runs October 20 – January 9 in Gallery 211. The artist will be present for an opening reception and artist talk on October 20, 2022.

Save the Date! North End Noël will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, outside on the grounds of Eltuek Arts Centre. Come see our beautiful building lit up and find local, handmade gifts and art for friends and family as you listen to your favourite holiday tunes. Get warm with cider and hot chocolate, then finish it all off with festive snacks from our food vendors. Dress toasty! Can’t wait to see you here.
